Who We Are

The Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard's mission is to provide monthly food assistance to those in need. We are open to people of all faiths and races. We are neighbors helping neighbors to Shut The Door On Hunger in our community. 

What We Do

NGCC provides food on an emergency basis to eligible families who reside in the James A Garfield School District. The Cupboard also operates the Weekend SnackPack Program which provides healthy and easy to prepare snack foods to eligible students at no cost.

How We Obtain Resources

NGCC is not a federally funded agency and opeates solely on contributiosn received from the community. We rely on the kindness and generosity of our neighbors for donations of food, money and volunteer hours.

Facts About Hunger In Ohio

*One in six Ohioans are facing a daily risk of hunger.

*24% of children in Portage County are considered food insecure.

*66% of individuals served by Ohio food banks report having to choose between buying food and paying their rent or medical expenses.

When We Are Open

*First & Second Monday of the month: 3:00pm-6:00pm

*First & Second Wednesday of the month: 9:00am-12:00pm

We are closed on federal holidays and when the Garrettsville City Schools are closed for bad weather.
